Personal Status Law: Federal Decree-Law No. 52 of 2023, which regulates the general provisions of marriage and engagement, the pillars and conditions of the marriage contract and its effects, as well as the provisions of divorce and khul’ and the effects resulting from them, as well as the provisions of capacity and its obstacles, the provisions of guardianship over the person and money, the general provisions of wills, and the general provisions of inheritance.

The primary aim of this law is to ensure the stability and fairness of civil transactions between individuals within the country.
Crimes and Penalties Law
The UAE Penal Code, as amended by Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2022, defines crimes and sets out their penalties in a comprehensive manner, in accordance with the principle of criminal legality, as there is no crime or penalty without a text. Accordingly, this law defines the elements of each crime and specifies its penalties, except for those crimes that are exempted by a special law regulating those crimes. It also explains the general provisions for the reasons for permissibility, impediments to liability, impediments to punishment, and types of punishments, whether they are original, subsidiary, or complementary. It also addresses the suspension of the execution of punishment.
